MGA 3000 Gas analyser

An example of a product design - the MGA 3000 multi-gas analyser family.

Culver consultancy was responsible for much of the electronic design, all the embedded software and assisted with the production engineering and approvals testing.

This product forms the basis of a range of gas analysers, which can measure the concentrations up to four gasses. Readings are shown on a graphical LCD screen, via RS232 and output in analogue form as voltage or 4..20 mA. The screen display (a backlit Monochrome LCD) demonstrates Culver Consultancy expertise with graphical displays.

.Some key engineering features of this project include:

Graphical display, incorporating proportionally spaced fonts in several sizes
Complex signal conditioning in software, including polynomial linearisation
Fast efficient firmware - a single 8 bit processor handles screen and signal linearisation and compensation maths, allowing competitive product pricing!
Precision analogue electronic design
Microprocessor interfaces including precision A/D, D/A conversion, I²C etc.
Creation of full production information, including PCB Gerber files, B.O.M.s, cable drawings etc.
